Emily in Paris' Best Fashion Fits

So long fast fashion, Emily in Paris is here to highlight high-end designers.

After belatedly having binged Emily in Paris in five short hours, and yesterdays announcement of season two. I can't help but be fixated on the sleek style that was debuted in this piece, but I guess that is to be expected when the dream team of Sex and the City and The Devil Wears Prada join forces in fashion capital Paree for this heavenly rom-com, what better of a fashion team could you have wished for?

However, if you have blissfully been living under a rock this lockdown, here is a little update of the new October Netflix debut. The show stars Lily Collins as an American marketing executive dispatched by her company to provide an American point of view in its office in the French capital. But as a new-fashioned American in Paris, Emily has to overcome culture shock. She plays a Chicago native as she aims to win over her new alienating-ly chic colleagues, make friends, and navigate new romances (especially with the boy next door).

Now, on to the fashion. The show is styled by Sex and the City’s legendary costume designer Patricia Field, who is somewhat known for her extensive budget for our mainstream characters such as Carrie Bradshaw. A moderately successful journalist in a small upstate New York apartment, with what happens to be an extensive unrealistic designer wardrobe. leaving the ever-remaining question being where does Carrie get this money from? Although, we can't deny loving the wardrobe choices from the franchise despite this. Arguably, an element of the "unrealistic wardrobe" has creeped into Darren Star's new show Emily in Paris, although Emily may be seemingly more successful with her job as marketing exec than Carrie the columnist, her wardrobe (once again) just doesn't live up to her pay check. However unrealistic the wardrobe may be this did not stop us from falling in love with Emily and her newfound life in Paris (and perhaps made us even a teeny bit excited to see what enchanting designer clothing they have in store for us next). However, that's not all that has creeped into the new fashion-forward series. Dutiful fans of Fields have even picked up on the designer’s odes toSex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw and fashion icon Audrey Hepburn through captivating statement pieces.

Emily's style is definitely captivating to say the least, from eye-catching prints to clashing patterns and bright colours. But that is not to say that the Savoir employee is the only fashionista in Emily in Paris. Collins' Emily has equally fashionable friends such as Mindy Chen and Camille, played by Ashley Park and Camille Razat. Mindy, similarly to Emily, loves eye-catching prints and eclectic pairings. Whereas, Camille goes for a more minimalistic approach with a sleek low-key statement piece, such as an oversized blazer.

Rounded up here are some of our favourite fashion moments from the hit show. Look out for pieces designed by Christian Siriano,Virginie Viard, Virgil Abloh, Felipe Oliveira Baptista, Stéphane Rolland, and more.

In a way, we are all Emily's, just waiting to be noticed.
